Phenomenon forecasts

Phenomenon forecasts for the future and the theme of the Art Realm

The vision of Art Realm for the future and the change evolves in interaction with its environment and is tied to society. Therefore, Art Realm works closely with various actors and experts.

In Art Realm, the future development is predicted and anticipated. In the Art Realm ’24 Biennale, experts from various fields, researchers, and artists provided their phenomenon forecasts, offering sparks, visions, and perspectives for the future. These forecasts can be still viewed on the Hämeenlinna Art Museum’s YouTube channel.

The first phenomenon forecast related to the Art Realm ’26 Biennale and its theme “Together” will be heard on February 21, 2025, in a panel discussion held at the Kulttuuritalo Laikku. The phenomenon forecast will be presented by associate professor, researcher and multidisciplinary artist, Raisa Foster, who explores social and ecological issues through writing, dance and video art. She is a pioneer in the study of eco-social justice and the development of methodologies. At the core of Foster’s artistic research is the human bodily relationship with the world.

Foster has edited the books Art, EcoJustice, and Education (Routledge, 2019) and Kertomuksia kestävästä elämästä (Into, 2023) and has widely published on embodiment, recognition, art, and eco-social sustainability. She is a docent at the University of the Arts Helsinki and the University of Eastern Finland. She is currently working as an independent artist-researcher in the Just and Unjust Environmental Wars project (2023–2026), funded by Kone Foundation.
